New heart plug aims to cut stroke risk without blood thinners

Summary
This early study tests a new version of a device (LAmbre II) that plugs a small pouch in the heart called the left atrial appendage. In people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat), this pouch can form blood clots that cause strokes. The device is meant to seal the pouch and reduce stroke risk, offering an alternative to long-term blood thinner medication. The study will include 10 adults with atrial fibrillation who are at high risk for stroke and cannot take blood thinners safely.
