Milk protein could offer women a new way to fight infections without antibiotics
NCT ID NCT05434104
Summary
This study is checking if it's possible to run a larger future trial. That trial would test whether a natural protein from cow's milk, called lactoferrin, can be used as a vaginal treatment for common infections like bacterial vaginosis (BV) and thrush. Researchers will recruit 114 women with these conditions. They will compare the lactoferrin treatment against standard antibiotic or antifungal pills to see if women find it acceptable and if it helps clear up symptoms.
