Mind over muscle? how words shape recovery after knee surgery

NCT ID NCT05342415

Summary

This study tested if the way a therapist explains exercises affects muscle recovery after ACL knee surgery. Researchers compared telling patients to focus on their thigh muscles versus focusing on an object like a towel. 24 young adults who had recent surgery were split into two groups and followed a standard rehab program for one month, with only the verbal instructions differing.
