Needle injection tested to cut knee surgery pain and opioid use

NCT ID NCT06955923

Summary

This study tested whether a simple injection given right after knee replacement surgery could help reduce pain and the need for strong opioid painkillers. Researchers compared real injections of a numbing medicine into specific muscle areas to fake 'sham' injections that didn't deliver any medicine. The goal was to find a safe way to manage post-surgery pain that might help patients rely less on opioids.
