Knee pain breakthrough: simple tests may rival MRI scans

NCT ID NCT06971601

First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a set of simple physical tests can accurately diagnose infrapatellar fat pad impingement, a common cause of front knee pain. Researchers will compare the results of these tests to MRI scans in 50 adults aged 18-70 with persistent knee pain. If the tests prove reliable, they could offer a faster, cheaper, and more accessible way to diagnose this condition without needing an MRI.
