Modified stem cells tested as potential lifeline for severe sickle cell patients

NCT ID NCT07436767

Summary

This early study is testing a single injection of modified stem cells in three people with severe sickle cell disease. The goal is to see if these specially altered cells can safely take hold in the body and start producing healthier red blood cells. Researchers hope this approach will reduce the painful crises and complications of the disease.
