First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving a Janssen (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine to kidney transplant recipients who already had two or three doses of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) could improve their immune protection. The trial enrolled 468 adults who had a kidney transplant and had low or undetectable COVID-19 antibodies. The goal was to see if the extra vaccine dose raised antibody levels enough to help protect them from COVID-19.
