Could a common pill shield kidneys from hospital scans?

NCT ID NCT07291375

Summary

This early study is testing if a very low dose of a common blood pressure medication (amlodipine) can help protect the kidneys of diabetic patients in the intensive care unit. The goal is to prevent kidney damage that can sometimes be caused by the dye used in CT scans and other imaging tests. Researchers will give the pill to a small group of patients and closely monitor their kidney function for two days after their scan.
