Arm squeeze before surgery may shield kidneys from damage
NCT ID NCT07497958
Summary
This study tests whether briefly restricting blood flow to an arm one day before kidney cancer surgery helps protect the remaining kidney tissue from injury. Researchers will compare kidney function in 174 patients who either receive this brief 'preconditioning' or proceed directly to surgery. The goal is to reduce the severity of acute kidney injury that can occur after partial kidney removal.
