Nerve block may shield kidneys during colon cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT07297433

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a specific nerve block (erector spinae plane block) helps protect kidney function during laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer. Researchers will measure kidney blood flow during surgery and check kidney health afterward using blood and urine tests. The study involves 60 adults aged 35-75 who are scheduled for this surgery. The goal is to understand how the nerve block affects the kidneys, not to cure the cancer.
