New dosing schedule could improve sickle cell treatment for kids
NCT ID NCT06578507
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study is testing whether giving hydroxycarbamide (a medicine that helps prevent sickle cell crises) twice a day works better than the usual once-daily dose in children aged 9 months to 11 years with sickle cell disease. About 50 children will take the medicine twice daily for 12 months and have regular clinic visits. The goal is to see if this dosing schedule is safe, how the body processes the drug, and if it improves blood markers like fetal hemoglobin.
