Scientists test best way to measure ketones, check hormone link

NCT ID NCT06053138

Summary

This study had two main goals. First, it checked if different ways of taking blood (like from a finger, ear, or vein) give the same reading for ketone levels. Second, it looked at whether being in a state of ketosis (burning fat for fuel) affects levels of erythropoietin (EPO), a hormone that helps make red blood cells. Sixteen healthy adults participated, with some taking a ketone supplement and others a placebo for two weeks.
