Common drug tested to cut opioid use after back surgery

NCT ID NCT06513208

Summary

This study is testing whether giving the anti-inflammatory drug ketorolac after spinal fusion surgery can safely reduce patients' pain and their need for opioid painkillers. Researchers will compare ketorolac to a placebo in 140 adults having one or two levels of their lower back fused. The main goals are to see if it lowers opioid use and hospital stay without harming the success of the spinal fusion.
