High-Fat diet may stop seizures before they start in At-Risk infants
NCT ID NCT06700811
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This early-phase study tests whether a ketogenic diet (high fat, low carbs) can prevent epileptic spasms in 10 infants under 9 months old who have genetic epilepsy. The diet is already used to treat seizures, but here it's started early to see if it can stop spasms from ever happening. The main goals are to check if the diet is safe and if families can stick with the monitoring schedule.
