New titanium jaw implant could spare patients major surgery
NCT ID NCT00213837
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tested a new way to rebuild the front part of the lower jaw after it is removed during ear, nose, and throat surgery. Instead of using a piece of bone taken from elsewhere in the body, doctors placed a custom porous titanium implant. The goal was to see if this simpler approach could work well and cause fewer complications. Only 7 adults took part, and the results were checked with scans and blood tests.
