Kidney transplant patients get extra COVID shot in new study

NCT ID NCT05220397

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looked at whether giving kidney transplant recipients a dose of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine could boost their immune protection after they had already received two or three doses of mRNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna). The trial enrolled 468 people who had a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, the study was stopped early, so results are limited.
