Doctors check safety of Double-Duty pain relief in surgery

NCT ID NCT05368753

Summary

This study aimed to understand the safety of using two powerful pain control methods together during major abdominal surgery. Researchers measured the levels of the drugs lidocaine (given by IV) and ropivacaine (given by epidural) in the blood of 51 patients. The goal was to see if combining them leads to safe drug concentrations, as this combination's effects hadn't been studied before.
