IV iron race: new treatment aims to beat pills for Post-Surgery recovery

NCT ID NCT03817957

Summary

This study tested different ways to give iron to patients who developed anemia after major surgery. Researchers compared a new intravenous (IV) iron treatment called Polyglucoferron against an existing IV treatment and standard oral iron pills. The goal was to see which method was safest and most effective at quickly raising patients' iron and hemoglobin levels to improve recovery and reduce the need for blood transfusions.
