Hospital IVs put to the test: does a tiny wire make them last longer?

NCT ID NCT06107361

Summary

This study is testing if a standard long IV catheter works as well as a newer version that has a small guidewire inside it. Researchers will enroll 360 adult hospital patients who need an IV and have veins that are hard to find or feel. They will randomly receive one of the two catheters, and the team will track how long it lasts, how often it gets infected, and if it causes blood clots.
