First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looked at 750 first-time mothers who had a C-section and wanted birth control. Half got a copper IUD placed right after delivery, and the other half took progesterone-only pills. The goal was to see which method was more likely to cause a scar (called a niche) in the uterus. Researchers used ultrasound to check for scars 6 months later.
