Summary

This study tested whether a combination of two medications could effectively treat a rare, serious blood disorder called immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) without using the standard first treatment of therapeutic plasma exchange. The trial involved 51 adults with iTTP who received caplacizumab and immunosuppressive therapy. Researchers wanted to see if this drug combination alone could bring patients into remission without needing the plasma exchange procedure, which filters harmful antibodies from the blood.
