First seen Dec 08, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study aims to understand how our expectations (placebo and nocebo) influence the experience of itch and pain, and how these sensations are distributed on the skin. Thirty healthy adults will have creams and mild itch-inducing substances applied to their forearms in a single 90-minute session. No treatment is given; the goal is purely to gather knowledge about how we perceive itch and pain.
