Summary
This study aimed to find out how often a specific intravenous (IV) iron treatment, called ferric carboxymaltose, causes a rare side effect that reduces the blood's ability to carry oxygen. Researchers measured blood oxygen levels in nearly 1,000 patients receiving the IV iron as part of their normal care and compared them to healthy people who did not get the drug. The goal was to gather safety information to better understand the risks of this widely used treatment.
