First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether intimate partner violence (IPV) increases the risk of blood clots in women taking birth control pills. Researchers compared 997 women who had a first blood clot with similar women who did not. They used a questionnaire to measure IPV exposure. The goal was to see if IPV is an overlooked risk factor for venous thromboembolism.
