New pill aims to protect lungs in progressive scarring disease

Summary
This study is testing whether a new oral medication called buloxibutid can help slow the decline of lung function in people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Over 52 weeks, 360 participants will take either one of two doses of the drug or a placebo pill, while researchers measure changes in breathing capacity. The goal is to see if the drug can control the disease by protecting and repairing lung tissue.
