Summary

This study looks at whether giving intravenous iron to older patients (70+) with anemia after heart surgery can reduce disability three months later. About 310 people having planned valve or bypass surgery will receive either IV iron or a placebo. The goal is to see if treating iron deficiency speeds up recovery and improves daily function.
