Tiny heart monitor tracked babies between surgeries

NCT ID NCT05744934

First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether a small implantable heart monitor (loop recorder) could be safely placed in newborns with a single ventricle heart condition during their first surgery. Ten babies were enrolled, and the device was used to track heart rate and rhythm for up to 3 years between surgical stages. The goal was to see if the monitor was safe and could reliably send data, not to treat the condition.
