Can intermittent fasting beat daily dieting for belly fat? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT05132686

First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests if a diet that combines intermittent fasting (eating very little two days a week) with a Mediterranean diet is better than a daily low-calorie diet for reducing belly fat and liver fat. About 260 middle-aged adults with high belly fat will follow one of these diets for 24 weeks. The goal is to see which approach works best for weight loss and improving health markers.
