Simple stitch may stop lung hernia after chest surgery
NCT ID NCT06924515
First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding an extra stitch between the ribs during lung surgery can prevent a lung hernia (where lung tissue bulges through the chest wall). About 104 adults having lung surgery will be split into two groups: one gets the extra stitch, the other gets standard closure. A CT scan 3 months later will check for hernias.
