First seen Apr 19, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This early study tests a special insulin gel placed in the ear during surgery to help close long-standing holes in the eardrum. 25 adults with chronic ear infections but no active discharge are enrolled. The gel is made from safe ingredients and aims to speed healing and improve hearing. Results so far suggest the insulin gel works better than standard care.
