Less insulin may be just as effective for high potassium
NCT ID NCT06036823
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study tested whether a lower dose of insulin (5 units) works as well as the standard dose (10 units) for lowering dangerously high potassium levels in adults. Over 380 participants were given one of the two doses, and their potassium levels were checked after two hours. The goal was to see if the smaller dose could be just as effective while reducing the risk of side effects like low blood sugar.
