Do Heart-Strengthening drugs really help in shock? a major trial aims to find out.
NCT ID NCT05267886
First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether medicines that help the heart pump stronger (called inotropes) actually help people in cardiogenic shock, a life-threatening condition where the heart can't pump enough blood. About 346 critically ill adults will get either a common inotrope (milrinone or dobutamine) or a placebo. The goal is to see if these drugs reduce death and serious complications during the hospital stay.
