New combo treatment may stop gum grafts from shrinking

NCT ID NCT07303192

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding an injection of platelet-rich fibrin (a healing concentrate from your own blood) and low-level laser therapy could reduce shrinkage of gum grafts. 48 adults with receding gums received standard gum graft surgery, with some also getting the extra treatments. The goal was to see if these additions help the graft keep its size and cover more of the tooth root.
