Blood-Based gel tested to heal diseased gums

NCT ID NCT07029035

Summary

This study tested whether a gel made from a patient's own blood, called injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF), could help treat gum disease. In 20 patients with moderate-to-severe periodontitis, researchers applied the i-PRF gel to one side of the mouth and a saltwater solution to the other side after a deep dental cleaning. They measured gum health and healing markers over three months to see if the i-PRF treatment was more effective.
