Saliva swabs could replace blood draws for monitoring IBD treatment

NCT ID NCT07470502

First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring infliximab (a drug for inflammatory bowel disease) in saliva is as good as measuring it in blood. Fifteen children starting infliximab will provide saliva and leftover blood samples during routine visits. The goal is to see if saliva can be used for monitoring, but this is just an early exploration and won't change treatment yet.
