New protein gel aims to help fuse bones in back surgery

Summary
This study is testing a substance called Natural Matrix Protein® (NMP®) used during spine surgery to help bones fuse together. Researchers will follow 1000 adults with degenerative disc disease for 2 years to see if NMP is safe and improves fusion, pain, and disability. Participants must already be scheduled for spine surgery where NMP will be used as part of their bone graft.
