First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study aims to validate a new, fully automated blood test (HemosIL AcuStar) for diagnosing and monitoring acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (aTTP), a rare but life-threatening blood clotting disorder. Researchers will compare the new test's accuracy against current manual methods using stored and fresh blood samples from 500 patients in Spain and Portugal. The goal is to make diagnosis faster and more reliable, helping doctors start life-saving treatment sooner.
