Belly gas pressure linked to brain pressure marker in gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT07162922

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looked at 76 adults having gallbladder surgery to see if the gas pressure used in the belly affects the optic nerve sheath diameter, a non-invasive way to estimate brain pressure. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either low (8 mmHg) or standard (14 mmHg) pressure. The researchers measured the nerve sheath before, during, and after surgery and also checked for symptoms like headache and nausea.
