Can a common arthritis drug make PKU therapy safer and more effective?
NCT ID NCT07477691
First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding methotrexate (a drug that calms the immune system) can help adults with PKU tolerate and respond better to Palynziq, a treatment that lowers harmful phenylalanine levels. About 12 adults will receive both drugs for 6 months, and researchers will measure blood Phe levels and immune markers. The goal is to reduce allergic-type reactions and improve long-term disease control.
