Glowing dye could light up hidden cancer cells during surgery

NCT ID NCT03834272

Summary

This study tested a new imaging system designed to help surgeons see cancer cells that have spread to the lining of the abdomen. The system uses a special fluorescent dye (LUM015) that makes cancer cells glow, which could help surgeons remove more cancer during an operation. The study involved 18 patients with abdominal cancers to check if the system was safe and if it could accurately highlight cancer cells.
