Scientists test new way to spot brain tumor activity without surgery

NCT ID NCT05851378

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests a new imaging technique that uses a special substance (hyperpolarized carbon-13 alpha-ketoglutarate) to take detailed pictures of brain tumors in people with IDH mutant glioma. About 40 adults will receive an injection and then have an MRI scan to see how the substance behaves in the tumor compared to healthy brain tissue. The goal is to improve understanding of tumor activity, not to treat the disease.
