Simple blood test may predict sepsis in emergency patients
NCT ID NCT07425587
First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study aims to find out if measuring a substance called IL-6 in the blood can help doctors quickly identify sepsis or septic shock in patients arriving at the emergency room with a suspected infection. About 450 adults who are being admitted to the hospital will have their blood tested within 12 hours of arrival. The goal is to establish a clear cutoff level that reliably predicts sepsis, which could lead to faster treatment and better outcomes.
