New procedure challenges pills for Hormone-Driven high blood pressure
NCT ID NCT07328230
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study compares two treatments for idiopathic hyperaldosteronism (IHA), a condition where the adrenal glands make too much of a hormone that raises blood pressure. One treatment is a daily pill (spironolactone), and the other is a procedure called superselective adrenal arterial embolization (SAAE) that blocks tiny arteries in the adrenal gland. The goal is to see which approach better lowers blood pressure and has fewer side effects. About 172 people aged 15 to 60 with IHA will take part.
