Scientists track ICU survivors for clues to mysterious Long-Term weakness

NCT ID NCT07170527

Summary

This study aims to understand why some previously healthy people struggle to recover physically after a serious illness requiring intensive care (ICU). Researchers will follow 200 ICU survivors for a year, collecting blood and stool samples and measuring strength and mental health. The goal is to find links between the body's chemical changes during critical illness and long-term recovery problems, hoping to identify targets for future treatments.
