Shake or zap? new study tests ways to fight ICU muscle wasting

NCT ID NCT07336810

Summary

This study is testing two different physical therapies to help patients who become very weak after a long stay in the intensive care unit (ICU). Sixty patients will be randomly assigned to receive either whole-body vibration therapy or muscle-stimulating electrical pads, in addition to their regular care, for two weeks. Researchers will measure changes in muscle strength, size, and health markers to see which approach works better for recovery.
