ICU bed cycling & nutrients fight muscle wasting
NCT ID NCT04099108
Summary
This study tested whether giving intravenous amino acid supplements combined with in-bed cycling could help prevent muscle loss in critically ill patients during their first week in the ICU. Fifty adult patients expected to stay in the ICU for at least a week were randomly assigned to receive either this combined treatment or standard care alone. Researchers measured changes in muscle size and strength to see if the approach helped patients maintain more muscle mass.
