Can a simple mineral boost save more lives in the ICU?

NCT ID NCT07173855

Summary

This study aims to find the best target level for magnesium, a common mineral given in the ICU, to help critically ill patients. It will compare whether aiming for a higher or lower magnesium level leads to better 30-day survival and fewer episodes of a dangerous irregular heartbeat called atrial fibrillation. Over 3,200 patients across several hospitals will be part of this trial, which is integrated into their standard hospital care.
