Summary
This study aims to understand how the immune system weakens in critically ill patients, which can lead to dangerous infections. Researchers will track a key immune signal (INF-γ) in 200 adults admitted to intensive care after severe trauma, major surgery, or respiratory distress. The goal is to gather knowledge that could one day help doctors identify the right patients and the right time for immune-boosting treatments.
