Doctors test simple leg raise to predict deadly fluid buildup in ICU
NCT ID NCT06415916
Summary
This study aims to find a better way to predict if patients in intensive care can safely receive extra IV fluids. Researchers will use ultrasound scans while briefly raising a patient's legs to see if changes in blood flow patterns can forecast fluid tolerance. The goal is to help doctors balance giving enough fluids for circulation without causing harmful fluid overload in the lungs or other organs.
