Summary

This study tracks how much money families in Africa and Asia pay out-of-pocket when a loved one is in the ICU. Researchers will follow about 354 patients for up to 6 months to see if these costs become catastrophic. The goal is to identify who is most at risk and how families cope, so policymakers can better protect people from medical debt.
